I am a member of your district and would like to urge you to expand funding for community schools in fiscal year 2022-2023. Community schools are schools that are equipped to leverage community partnerships and resources to provide holistic, integrated supports to expand student success, foster resilient communities, and build a stronger NY. This is especially important as we confront the impact the pandemic has had on the learning, mental health, and wellbeing of New York's students.

I urge you to support a $100 million investment in a Community Schools Categorical Aid so that more districts across the state can utilize the strategy for recovery. I also support the Governor's executive budget decision to maintain the current community schools set-aside in Foundation Aid to continue supporting those existing schools. The field also needs enhanced technical assistance support; an $800,000 increase to the NYS Community Schools Technical Assistance Centers would support the growing demand for the holistic support of the community schools strategy.

Please prioritize the education, mental health, and recovery of New York students during this budget cycle, and invest in community schools!
